AvMat evolved from Ohio Polymer Enterprise Development, a highly successful initiative by the University of Akron to commercialize technologies being developed at universities, government laboratories and start up companies. OPED was a non-profit organization funded by Ohio’s Technology Action Fund. AvMat was founded within OPED to commercialize advanced material technologies for fuel cells. Now, with the support of several of the OPED Senior Consultants and other industry experts and service providers, AvMat continues OPED’s technology commercialization for the markets defined by OPED, and in the broader fields of advanced materials and technology.
